Agaetis byrjun

i've been wondering how to describe Sigur Ros's music. someone called it " whale in heat music", while k called it "the music of radiohead and enigma's mutant child", but methinks it has a rather pagan wombish quality. like the ideal background music for the floating ophelia.i first heard Sigur Ros's Svefn-G-Englar on the OST of Vanilla Sky and the odd thing about it is how free it makes you, so free that you want to save the rain forests, baby sea lions, erase third world debt.... hmm its a pagan music that makes you feel like Bono at Davos.
i've never understood why all these people "in business" scramble off to a posh ski resort to talk about business and irritatingly third world debt. Bono talks of it, Bill gates talks of it and most annoyingly Koffi annan talks of it, in switzerland, where all they are concerned about is the alacrity of the cuckoo in their clocks.when you are in a place where everybody is talking about the "pooahrest of the pooah" (POP, for convenience) who gives a damn, when everybody is pretty much giving the same soundbites ? now if Bono ( lets not forget the shades) went to the hinterlands of mozambique, among the semi clad natives and rallied for third world debt erasure, that would make for good television, but when you're in a ski resort the only thing one should do,is ski, me thinks.
well anyhow, heres the link for Agaetis byrjun, its a free download, (many thanks nag)

People..money talks and cash 'screams'!!
Sharon 'sliver' Stone did more than just making an ass of herself at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
After an immediate personal pledge of $10000 she challenged others to follow suite. And a whopping One million bucks were raised under 15 minutes to buy anti-mosquito bednets to help fight malaria in Tanzania.
Stone(a committed AIDS activist), Gere and others dont need TV attention (i guess no body wud after being butt naked on screen... sans a body double, read Joey) but are people who genuinely want to help the POP and save on tax as well!
Nigeria, for eg is heading towards an Argentinian-style default on its $33bn (£17bn) of overseas debt unless western creditors accept a deal to alleviate the country's financial burden. So who cares if these forums are in a ski resort or Yellowstone National Park, me thinks we shud focus on the issue.
Some Gourmet swiss chocolate, some luxury alpine skiing, a vintage Cartier or Bregge in your coat pocket..
and 12 containers of anti-mosquito bednets on their way to Tanzania..
Hmm... ALLS WELL THAT ENDS .. MURPHY anna..

anon: i'm not undermining the donations and the aid doled out by these celebrities, i just said it looks condscending when you talk about poverty from an expensive ski resort

Have you heard of this band called "Massive Attack"...try them sometime...very trippy and heavy of soft bass lines..kinda like jazz you can dance too.
Or try "Portishead"...slow and dreamy brilliance.
There are 2 other bands that make that kind of music when they are in a mood too...the other times they make stuff that only some metal enthusiasts can listen too...they are called "Anathema" and "Opeth"
